"There once was a tree, a tiny young tree, that grew in the forest and wanted to be
Just as tall as the other great oaks he could see. And he said with a smile, “I can’t wait ’til that’s me!”

This is a beautiful book, with cute text and sweet pictures. (I especially love the little woodland creatures). My favorite part though is the message. In a culture where so much focus is placed on personal growth and development, and where one must continue to learn and improve in order to stay competitive and be considered successful, it's important to make sure those worthy values remain in balance with other important values that we sometimes forget. Patience, Gratitude for how far we've come, and the ability to recognize and appreciate how much we've already accomplished, are equally important. Otherwise, the journey becomes joyless, and loses it's real meaning. The grandfather oak serves to teach us that if we are only willing to be satisfied with some end result down the road, then we will look up one day and realize that we have arrived, but that we missed many many opportunities all along the way to enjoy and celebrate the journey that got us there, and to just be happy to be who and where we are. We will also have missed out on the chance to be a mentor to others who are not yet as far along on their journey. Thank you for this valuable book! I hope it will someday be available in physical form, as it would make a great gift for a graduation, or for someone who really needs the message, as well as something I will love reading over and over to my kids.Product details

Happy to Be Me A Tree A tall tale of growth and selflove edition by Steph Halligan SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
Loved it! I have been following and reading Steph's daily inspirational cartoons for a year or two now and I love her wise words. This book follows the same insightful style and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike!
What a wonderful lesson for a small child to learn. Cute , a little sing song in style but that should be enjoyable to younger children. It could have had more illustrations , they are sweet & touching & make you smile
When I first got this as one of Steph's daily emails through Art to Self, I couldn't wait for it to be a published book. Now that it's a published e-book, I can't wait to get a physical copy to hold in my hands! Such an inspiring message -- one that I can't wait to read and re-read with my nieces, and share with as many people as possible.
I decided to read this book before I would read it to my niece, and I really enjoyed reading this. I love Stephen Halligans inspirational art to self passages anyway, so I knew this book would be on that level. Great book to help kids understand that growth and love of self is a part of growing up.
What a wonderful book! A lesson I would hope all children learn early and a powerful reminder for us "grown-ups!" Stephanie's daily Art-to-Self reminders are inspirational and uplifting. Now, this full-color book for kids brings a joyful message to all. A story lovingly drawn and told.
What a beautiful little story. And so very well written. Each paragraph is nice and short and keeps you engaged. The sentences rhyme wonderfully and are easy to read for young children. The story has a heart warming message for both young and old. To me the moral of the story is to be happy and live the present. Very cute and colorful illustrations too. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Even my teenage niece loved the short story. She said it was kind of sad but happy at the same time. We all really enjoyed it.
This is an inspirational story about loving who you are - right here, and right now. It's easy to focus on where you are going, or even where you think you want to go. But sometimes you need to just love where you are right now. This has never become more evident than when spending time with my children. It's easy to get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of life. But it's so much more fun to be in the moment. Cherish what you have. It is beautiful. )
