I will read whatever Cambria Hebert writes because she is one of my all time favorite authors. Within the past year I have read the entire #Hashtag series (new adult, sports, and college romance) and the entire #GearShark series (M/M romances for the most part and racing). So now I am moving along to her Take it Off series (this is the first book) which is a series full of complete standalone novels. So really, I am playing catch up with her books because I adore them so much.

In this book, readers are introduced to a sexy firefighter and the woman he saves. There is an instant attraction between the two, an insta-love relationship that transpires pretty quickly, and some serious suspense. All in all, this is good, and I truly enjoyed reading it. It's a quick read, everything happens fast, and readers get a perfect HEA wrapped in a pretty little bow at the end. Now, why the 3 star rating then? Well, this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the book -I did- it just means that it was good but not great or totally original. I have read the same tropes over and over again and this one fits into that category. Also, I am not really a huge fan of insta-love because it's not realistic so that make me rate a little bit lower. Now, since this is an older book I won't dive into the plot or anything. But I will reiterate the things I loved and the things I didn't care for.

What I Loved About This Book
+ The Characters- both characters are easy to connect with in a short period of time which makes the book extra special in my eyes. I also liked their dynamics and how they interacted with one another. Holt, the hot firefighter who saves Katie (the heroine) from a fire is swoony! He's also a knight in shining armor in my eyes. Katie is demur, but I liked that about her especially considering her past (which you don't learn about until the end).
+ The Pacing- this book is fast paced and pretty short so it's easy to read in one sitting. I was craving this at the time of reading so it really "quenched my thirst" at the moment.
+ The Alpha Hero: YUP! Holt is an alpha hero in every way possible and I haven't read a book with a good one in quite a while.

What I Didn't Love About This Book
+ The Insta-love: This is my personal opinion of course. Many people enjoy love stories that transpire quickly between the couples and that's fine. I however and not a huge fan.
+ The Trustworthiness of Katie: Considering that someone is trying to kill her (which is the suspenseful aspect of the book) she sure jumped right into it with Holt. This is totally unrealistic.

Oops! I was trying to keep this review short because it's an older story but, oh well! Overall, this is a good book but certainly not my favorite from the author. I will however continue the series as I own all the books and will read anything she writes!

Meh. This book has a suspenseful "who done it" storyline along with it's romance. And it kept me intrigued enough till about 3/4 of the way through the book. Katie and Holt are cute characters. A bit one-dimensional. With a whopping dose of insta-relationship. All the cliché trimmings just caused one too many eye-rolls for me though. The virgin librarian with her hot fireman rescuer. None of those have stopped me from enjoying a story before, but I just couldn't get sucked into this one. I also found myself skimming over the sexy times (out of character for me) because of their text-book descriptions. "Vagina", "penetration" - I felt like I was reading a sex-ed book.
The book immediately grabs you in the first paragraph- where Katie is tied to a chair and her house is being burned by a vandal/arsonist/attempted murderer.
She is saved by hunky, sexy, built like a mack truck, Holt.
Katie has no family nor friends, so the only person who can help her through her ordeal (being a burn victim and being a target someone attempting to kill her) is our sexy fireman, Holt.

This is my second book by this author and it seems that there is a theme. Immediate sexual attraction b/w H&h, heroine is in danger. H comes to save the day. But still, although the H needs to help the h, the heroine is not completely helpless. She is independent, strong and a nice person. So you don't feel like she is a vapid, waste of person that is only pretty and sexy.

This story between Holt and Katie is cute. Holt immediately takes on the role of Katie's protector, caretaker and overall savior. Katie is sweet and cautiously enters a relationship with this sexy fireman.

There are SEVERAL attempts to kill her and at the end the description is quite heavy on the bleeding scale. She is a tough cookie. Her characters infuses some humor into the story, adding to our enjoyment!

This is a 'fluffy' book. It is quick. Immediate attraction, quickly falling in love, heavy on the villainy, then a nice sweet epilogue. Something like the movie, "Speed". "Cause you know, relationships that start under intense circumstances, they never last." But in this case, it does and it will!!!

Holt is a hawt, sexy, brave, kindhearted, protective (need I go on?) fireman that is almost too perfect. Thankfully we find out that he can't cook. (yeah - dealbreaker?) no way.
Katie is adorable, sexy, sweet, funny, sassy and is able to withstand the insanity of her life that is now a mess.

This story is fun to read, the sex scenes are VERY steamy, and we get our HEA with no cliffhangers, etc.
Katie and Holt are honest with each other, no major angst, no big misunderstandings and no big stupid mistakes made by the main characters in the heat of the moment because of pride.

The story details are fairly forgettable, but it's an enjoyable read nonetheless.
Will probably re-read this in a year or so.

I like the formula of this author. It is a quick easy fun sexy read.
Am going to look for another of her books right now!
