A Cowboy Unmatched Ebook Shorts The Archer Brothers Book #3 A Match Made in Texas Novella 1 edition by Karen Witemeyer Religion Spirituality eBooks

I read the Archer Brothers series as a break in my normal fare of medieval historical fiction/ time-travel. The first installment hooked me from the beginning. I loved the hard working, loyal, caring Archer boys! The second was as good, and I anxiously awaited youngest brother Neill's story. As I purchased the book, I was disappointed that it was a novella, but desired to "catch up on the family," and have closure on the series. I must say that I enjoyed as much story as was given, however, half of a novella isn't much of a story. I was so disappointed when part of the family gathered at the ranch as Clara and her son's safety was assured, but the ending was definitely abrupt and hurried. At 58% of what I purchased, the saga suddenly ended, and I was left with Witemeyer's remaining 42% as a pitch for her next novel! Six chapters just to get more of my money. If you tend to business and give the customer a well-written, complete story, you don't have to worry about offering the teaser on their dime. Ummm...yeah...I feel cheated.

I was so disappointed in the length of this book and the lack of development of the characters. I felt like I was reading a rough draft of the book it was so rushed. I wish the author had taken the time to write a complete book. I have many of the author's book and this book really disappointed me.
Love the Archer brothers series. Almost impossible to put down, this one was so full of adventures and holding your breath to see what was going to happen next. Love the way Karen weaves her stories into a clean romance and the journeys her characters take to find true lasting love. You'll find handsome hero's that seem to melt the woman into puddles with just one smile and a tip of their hat. You will be thrilled with this one about the youngest Archer brother. This book is fantastic!
I greatly enjoy this author's work, so I downloaded this story as soon as it was released. It's part of the "Archer Brothers" saga, so it goes along with "Short Straw Bride" and "Stealing the Preacher." This time, it's Neill who gets himself a bride---a pregnant widow needing protection from her late husband's father, a rancher who wants her unborn son as his heir. Of course, she has no intention of giving up her child! Fortunately, Neill Archer is on hand to make sure both stay safe.

It's a good story, even if it is a rather short novella. My only complaint is the cover art. The main character was nine-months pregnant through 75% of the story and just-delivered for the remaining scenes, so why is the cover model trim and slim? Definitely an oversight!

Four stars, only because it was needlessly short. Recommended to anyone who likes clean, wholesome, historical romance novels.
I love the Archer Brother's series, I really do, so I was excited to see that Neill's story had been written. I liked the Novella but it was just so little compared to the other stories. I know a Novella is supposed to be short by design but this was such a great story and had the potential of being a great final book in the lives of the Archer brothers that I was sad to have it end so abruptly. All that being said, Karen is a great writer and her books are among my favorites and I can't wait to delve into a new series of hers.
As a general rule I avoid novellas, because plot and character development often suffer due to the short format. However, I love the Archers and couldn't resist reading the last book in the series.

The character development was pretty good for a novella. However the plot, though not bad, was too rushed, there were some flaws, and a key question was never answered. I wish Neill had been given a full length book instead.

It was also frustrating that less than 60% of the novella was A Cowboy Unmatched, and the remainder was the preview of another book.

I hope Karen will write another full length book in the series for Josiah.
Clara had been deeply betrayed by her first husband. Now she's widowed, pregnant, on a neglected and run-down farm her no-good husband had provided for her, and being hounded by a ruthless father-in-law who wants her to hand over her unborn child to him when it is born...and he won't take "no" for an answer. Along comes Neill, who is traveling through trying to raise money to start a ranch of his own. He is hired to put a new roof on Clara's house, but when he sees her shabby farm, he begins to go the extra mile to provide for her. Before long, they build a friendship and confide in each other. When Neill overhears Clara's father-in-law threatening her, he becomes her protector. Clara had never felt the feelings Neill inspired in her. Neill determines to win Clara's trust so she will allow him to take care of her always. It's a beautiful short story. My only disappointment, and it's a minor disappointment, is that we never found out who had hired Neill to fix Clara's roof.
This was a sweet ending to the Archer Brothers series, but I am sad this one was so very short! This story was the best one yet but I truly feel the ending was rushed too much considering how the problem that was introduced in the plot seemed too hard to have end happily and quickly. I was really down about that. This should have had a longer drawn out story to keep me anticipating things!

Clara is introduced in this story to be Neill's love interest. She has Comanche blood, her husband recently died (but he was not good to her) and she is pregnant with a child that her Father-in-law is set out to take from her. Neill arrives at her home in a unique way and fixes up her roof. He finds himself drawn to her. He wants to protect her forever and the child she carries.
I read the Archer Brothers series as a break in my normal fare of medieval historical fiction/ time-travel. The first installment hooked me from the beginning. I loved the hard working, loyal, caring Archer boys! The second was as good, and I anxiously awaited youngest brother Neill's story.
