This is a very fine collection of passages from the voluminous commentaries of Calvin, arranged by topic, intended to supplement the reading of the Institutes. Calvin wrote Institutes as an intro to biblical study, but many readers have stopped reading him at that work. If you can't afford the whole set of his commentaries, or doubt that you had time to read them if you did, this is a fine step in the right direction. Also included are his wonderfully personal preface to the Psalms, his warmly evangelical preface to Olevitan's French NT, and the intro to his Romans commentary in which he describes his methodology as a commentator.Product details
